Cynthia Bayuk-Bishop was at a crossroads.

She was tasked with turning around a culture within her school district in Midland, TX that had become an atmosphere of distrust. As she dug in and worked toward her goal, she began to get more and more frustrated at the task ahead.

Than, she happened to stumble upon this blog. Cynthia contacted our BW Leadership Institute (now Chapman & Co. Leadership Instituteread more here) and attended several of our classes, including “Listen Like a Leader.” She took what she learned back to her school district and change began to happen.

A few years later, she decided to try to change the lives of middle and high school students by adapting Barry-Wehmiller’s Communication Skills curriculum (also taught by Our Community Listens, the non-profit started my wife, Cynthia, and I) to fit the needs of teens and teach this younger generation how to listen.

Cynthia tells her inspiring story on this episode of the Everybody Matters Podcast.
