“You’re taught or you’re led to lead with control, be careful of being trusting, don’t be too terribly close to people because they’ll take advantage of you.

“I found those things counterintuitive to who I am as a person.”

This is was what Bernard McDowell, an aftermarket sales director at our Accraply division in Minneapolis, MN (USA), had to say about his leaders and as a leader in companies before he joined Barry-Wehmiller.

Unfortunately, these days, we’ve come to expect that type of atmosphere in a working environment. We’re paid to be told what to do. Emotion has no place in business. It’s all about making money and that creates all the rules of the game at work.

But, deep in our souls, we know that is not the way things should be. We know there’s a better way.

Watch the video above and hear Bernard talk about how he had to reorient his thinking when he finally found a caring workplace.
