I’ve long been inspired by the work of The Aspen Institute and their contribution to the conversation around leadership in the world. So, I was very honored when I was invited to speak at this year’s Aspen Ideas Festival alongside a diverse slate of names, such as New York Times columnist David Brooks, Sen. Cory Booker, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost, Katie Couric, Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, Pulitzer-Prize winner Thomas Friedman, Political Writer Bill Kristol, and Author Susan Orlean.

“The Privilege of Leadership” was the theme of my talk, where again I was able to tell the stories of our learnings and journey at Barry-Wehmiller. Afterward, Paul Holmes, founder of The Holmes Report wrote about my message, masterfully weaving in our alignment with good friend Simon Sinek, who also spoke during the festival.

Here are a few tweets from those in attendance at my “Privilege of Leadership” presentation:

Simon Sinek was there for a conversation with Arthur Brooks, but also had this discussion with Adam Grant, which was posted on Facebook:

One of Barry-Wehmiller’s distinguished board members, Eric Motley, is an Executive Vice President with the Aspen Institute. Eric participated in a few discussions as well. Here are those videos:

The Aspen Institute and The Aspen Ideas Festival are helping to drive the conversation about a new kind of leadership– leadership grounded in caring. I was privileged to share Barry-Wehmiller’s perspective, which I will continue to do to create a better world.
