“I Didn’t Believe It Existed”

“I’ve never seen a more kind, generous, compassionate culture in any organization. To be honest, I didn’t believe it existed outside my mind. It’s been a life-changing day for me.”

That was what Harvard Business professor Amy Cuddy had to say about her visit to two Barry-Wehmiller facilities in northern Wisconsin last weekend. She was joined by our friend, author and thought leader Simon Sinek, to begin researching our company for a potential joint writing project. If you’re not familiar with Amy, much of what she writes and speaks about (her Ted Talk is the second most viewed!) deals specifically with how body language affects interaction. Her thinking in this area is very much in alignment with what we teach through Barry-Wehmiller University.

Here are a few photos from Amy and Simon’s visit:

Simon is a good friend of the organization and featured us in his book, “Leaders Eat Last.” Although he has visited with our team members many times, he also came away touched by what he saw:

“This organization is built for people to exist together as human beings are meant to exist with each other,” Simon said. “We are built to take care of each other. What we witness here at Barry- Wehmiller is human beings as they are meant to be. Unfortunately we see it as the exception when it should be the rule.”

You’ll hear more about Amy and Simon’s visit in the near future. To learn more about Amy, watch the video above.
